Word's absolute maximum page size in either direction is 22 inches. It isn't
suitable for printing banners. Use another program, such as a dedicated
banner-printing program.

Word does not support banner printing. The absolute maximum for height and
width of a Word document (regardless of what your printer is capable of) is
22".

Word is a poor tool for creating banners. However, for some reason lost in
the mists of time, PowerPoint will allow you to create a banner up to 56
inches wide. File|Page Setup has the option to set the dimension. In
general, there are better applications for creating banners available. If
you have Publisher, that would be a place to start.
