bad xp cd

i was setting up xp pro through MS-DOS w/o another os on
there. I was changing the partition to NTFS and it told
me that some files were not copied correctly...i'm not
exactly in the best position to where i can afford to buy
another xp cd...anybody have n e suggestions?

Problems copying files or corrupted files during installation are
most often caused by defective or sub-standard hardware; in order of
likelihood, either RAM, the hard drive, or the motherboard. On much
less frequent occasions, a bad CD or defective CD drive can also cause
this.
