Bad Sectors and slow running

My Event log tells me I have got Bad Sectors, and an
imminent HD failure.
Tried scan and repairing but they still show up.
On comp restart, C: drive needs checking and after first
check finishes, it starts again but this time it just
freezes.
Skipping the disk check and everything works ok, just a
lot slower than usual for a 512mb RAM, 1.5 CPU laptop.
Is slower than my old 500mhz 128mb Ram machine.
Do i need a new HDD or can it be fixed?

Contact the laptop maker tech support to see if they have a diagnostic
program to check the hard drive. If their diagnostic program says the
drive is going south, replace it. In the meantime, make daily backups
of all your data. Hard drives that develop bad sectors and keep
developing them need to be replaced, generally they can not be
repaired.
