When we begin a new email to someone we click "New" in the toolbar and begin
to type the name of the recipient in the "To:" field. after we enter a few
characters of the name, Outlook proposes one or more suggested names. We
select the one that looks correct by clicking it. On occasion it is not
correct and does not agree with the name stored in the Contacts. Where does
Outlook get these suggested email addresses and how can we correct or delete
them? Outlook 2002 (XP)-SP3.
Thanx - mike

The autocomplete cache doesn't look up anything in your contacts. When you
find one you don't want, highlight it using the arrow keys, and press the
delete key on your keyboard.

Lanwench answered the second part of this question. The answer to the first
part is that these addresses come from you. Whatever you enter into one of
the recipient address fields (To, Cc, etc.) and resolve (i.e., it gets a
line under it) gets stored in a file whose name is yourprofile.NK2, in the
(hidden) folder %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook. Thus, if you want to start
this list afresh, with no names in it, stop Outlook and delete the NK2 file.
