Is there any way to use the XP software for an image backup. I'd also like
to make a 'rescue' disk so I could boot to it and perform a 'Restore'
operation if necessary.

I thought I already posted this question but can't find it. Sorry if this
is a duplication...

yes there is but there is "ALOT"
of info on these subjects at
microsoft.com.

also, there is a built in help and
support program on your pc that
describes the issues.

also, you can do a search
on the newsgroup to find
your prior postings or someones
else's having the same or similar
question.

If you can't find an old post search for it using Google groups advanced
search searching on your name in the newsgroup
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.

Better yet don't use the web interface to access this newsgroup - use a
newsreader. XP comes with one, Outlook Express. Here is a link on how to
set up OE for newsgroup access.

As to your question, XP does not come with imaging software. There is good
3rd party software available though such as

Norton Ghost 10
Acronis True Image
Terabyte Unlimited's Image for Windows
CasperXP

This suggestion really isn't of much help - it's a poor band aid for the
underlying problem which is using the web interface to access these
newsgroups. To search for old posts when you use the web interface the best
way is to use Google groups advanced search.

Better yet, don't use the web interface. It's awful. Use a newsreader.
