I am trying to create a backup cd with the Backup Wizard but I keep getting
an invalid name error. I have tried just numbers (080606), just letters
(backup) and a combination. The disc is new and empty. Any other suggestions?

AFAIK you cannot back up to a CD, only to a hard disk.

Is this with the NTBackup? I don't believe NTBackup can back up directly to
CD/DVD's. It is an old program originally used to back up to tape drives.
Either get a modern third-party back up program or save the backup file to
your hard drive and then burn to CD.
