I have a Compaq Presario 700 - one of the last before they discontinued - running Win XP Home editio
How do I perform a backup?? Can't find MS Backup or any other backup utility under accessories or admin tools. The restore CD that came with the computer does't have option for installing additional Windows features either.
 
Hi

Borrow an XP CD Home with your friend
Browse the CD and look for the Valued Added Folder
Inside this folder, there are sub folders. One of the folders contains Backup utility, sorry I can't remember which one

Buy a program such as Norton Ghost from Symantec. You can create an
bootable image of your harddrive with that image you can restore your
computer back to its current state without having to reinstall Windows first
in less than 15 minutes depending on your computer speed. With Ghost if you
mess something up or want to put in a new harddrive even. You make a
bootable CDR or DVDR image of your current drive put the disk in, boot from
the disk and you can have a registered version of Windows back up and
running with all preferences. You will even have that days and previous
email.
You can also use a second harddrive or an external hadrdrive.

Compaq won't [as other OEMs] ship the Operating System CD, NTBackup.msi.
