I have a client whos machine has a bug with their Backup. We are backing up
every day at night when the client is away to a server on the LAN. But this
particular machine which was reinstalled a couple of months ago does not want
to backup with the scheduler! Manual backup works 100%, all other 10 machines
do not have a problem.

I have tried to set the backup function from the administrator user & the
clients username who is an administrator but no luck.

Is there a way of reinstalling the Backup functions and all the library's
and other items needed to reset the XP Prof Backup software? If yes PLEASE
let me know now to, otherwise any suggestions will be really wellcomed as I
now have to do it manualy.

Kindest regards,

Sigismund

Before assuming that there is a bug in the backup program,
you should examine these log files:
- The log created by ntbackup.exe (backup??.log)
- The log created by the Task Scheduler
- The Event Log
What do these logs contain?

The SchedLgU.txt as these errors:

"Backup Computer5 Daily Server.job" (NTBACKUP.EXE)

Result: The task completed with an exit code of (80).

event viewer has got no specific Backup recognisable error?

Do you know what this exit code 80 mean?

Thanks for the help.

I don't know where you got your backup log from but
it does not at all look like a log generated by ntbackup.exe.
Here is how it should look like:

Backup Status
Operation: Backup
Active backup destination: File
Media name: "Media created 20/12/2005 at 19:07"

Backup of "C: System"
Backup set #1 on media #1
Backup description: "Set created 20/12/2005 at 19:08"
Backup Type: Normal

Backup started on 20/12/2005 at 19:08.
Backup completed on 20/12/2005 at 19:08.
Directories: 5
Files: 0
Bytes: 304
Time: 1 second

Looks like SchedLgU.txt (the Task Scheduler log) from his post.

Hope this helps. Let us know.
