I am able to backup individual files to my C.D. but I
would like to backup my whole system every so often. The
Wizard seems the obvious way forward but the default
shows 3.5 floppy (A:). Obviously it needs to go to D:\
(C.D.) but when I click the following message comes up:
'The backup file could not be used.
D:\whole.bkf
Please ensure it is a valid path and that you have
sufficient access.'
(The 'Select the backup type' is greyed out)
Can anyone advise me how to created/get a valid path
please.

The backup function in Windows XP does not recognise CD as a valid
backup device. You have to backup to a folder on your HDD and copy the
backup file to your CD afterwards.

Check your permissions to access this drive.

Rifleman is correct about XP's default backup program. (I missed your
reference to d: being a CD drive ... sorry if I misled you).
