I need to restore some old files backed up with MS-Dos
6.2 Backup. I have no Backup problem listed under my
System Tools. Is this possible?

You have to install it, But it will not do anything with
DOS.

If you have a rescue disk the valueadded folder may be on
it or your XP Disk, Mine was on disk #2

Insert the XP or Rescue CD, and run NTBACKUP.MSI
program

from the folder D:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP

You can get a copy here:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi

In XP Home the ASR Floppy Disk does not work . It will
NOT backup to a CD. You can back up to a folder on your
hard drive then burn it to a CD. The native program in
XP will not span CD's though.

Here is how to use it;

You can trick it with a packet writing program like Roxio
Direct CD & Drag and Drop (comes with Easy CD Creator )
Or Nero InCD or Sonic DLA You then use a CD ( will not
Span cd's) or DVD's (4.7+ gb) to back up to though.

MS-Backup USED to be a stripped-down version of Seagate Backup Exec.
Which then became Veritas Backup EXEC.

Do the backup files have a qic extension? If so, there is something
you can try. Go to www.stompinc.com and download the trial version of
Backup MyPC. They now own this program for XP and as I recall it
still uses the QIC files and MAY read them. It won't cost you
anything to try.

Alternatively, you can use something like Partition Magic to create a
small MS DOS partition and install MS DOS and recover the files that
way.
