Hello:

I'm using Outlook 2003 on my laptop as well as my desktop, I have
tried to backup my contacts folder on my laptop by using the file,
import/export etc. and then I tried to import it onto my laptop but
for some reason it will not import all my contacts. I have numerous
categories set up if that makes any difference - all are added to the
master categories list.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Terry

If you don't have an existing PST file on the laptop that you want to
use/save, this is very easy. Best not to export/import as you are almost
sure to lose something. Just make a copy of your main PST file (with Outlook
closed), copy it to your laptop, and specify that Outlook should use that
PST file....with Outlook closed on the laptop, find the PST file that it
created (you can do a search) and rename it or delete it - then when you
open Outlook on the laptop and it complains it can't find the PST file, you
can point it at the "right" one you copied from your desktop.

If instead you're trying to synchronize, importing is still not likely to be
the best method. See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm

Don't export/import. Simply copy your PST over to the other machine and
open it with File>Open>Outlook Data File. Once it's open in Outlook, you
can COPY (or MOVE) the old contacts to the current Contacts folder or simply
stop using the PST you have now and use the old one.
