Slow down there!

I don't know where you are getting your information, but it is
absolutely FALSE.

I have posted several articles to your many question and comments that
will educate you in the System Restore utility. I suggest you read them
before spreading false information.

Under Wxp, how does one create a backup of the registry?

This is the main thing System Restore does. Alternatvely, or in addition,
you can use a third-party program like the well-known and excellent ERUNT.

Type regedit in start-run-ok.
Under file, click on export.
Save whereever y'all want.
Wait until the hourglass disappears, close regedit.

Hi Shelly,

Export and import is *not* a good method.
First the backups are text mode, largely in Unicode and are enormous.
Second there is no proper way to restore it. Import does not replace
the
current registry but merges the file into it. Thus unwanted additions
made since the export are not removed - which may well be crucial.
And third when you want to use it may not be practicable.
System restore is the normal method.

Or use ERUNT
