While working on a antivirus problem, Norton suggests I
backup the system registry by going to
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Backup. However
when I do this "Backup" isn't among the choices. I'm
using XP-Home Edition. How can I backup the registry?

It's not installed by default in XP Home. See this MS-KB article.

try using EXPORT and save it somewhere where you can find it and name it
some worthwhile name like(051804).

That will work, but not a recommended option for complete registry backup. This method is suitable if you're exporting a specific portion of the registry (certain branch)
