Backup of e-mail messages

I have previously used Outlook 2000 for
calendar/appointments only and am familiar with backing up
the file "outlook.pst" from which I can fully restore
Outlook in the event I have to rebuild my system.

I now have begun using Outlook 2000 for e-mail. Does the
file "outlook.pst" include e-mail folders automatically or
do I have to back up e-mail messages by some other means?

The Outlook .pst file contains all of your Outlook items, except rules.
They are in a .rwz file.
