Hello,

I'm wondering if someone can tell me more about installing NTBackup from my
CD. I have Win XP home edition, so it isn't installed. When I browsed that
folder and read the info, it says that ASR? will not work properly. What
does that mean?

It also says you can't backup to a CDRW from that backup program. So what is
supported?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Backup is installed automatically on XP Professional, but not on
XP Home. If you have the complete XP Home CD, find backup on the
CD, in \ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself by
doubleclicking the file ntbackup.msi.

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi

As for the CD-R(W) support, what I (and probably lots of other folks do) is
format a CD-R with Direct3D or a similar tool, then just backup to the
"drive letter". The factoid that the drive letter happens to be a CD-R is
transparent to ntbackup.
