Backup From One, Restore To Another

I am about to undertake the task of replacing the entire supply of tablet
computers that we have deployed and I will need to capture as much user
specific data as possible such as documents, favorites, etc. The replacement
units have a completely (almost) new image and I don't want to overwrite any
of that stuff, but I would like to have the replacement be as close to the
old unit as possible to minimize grief for the user. I will be using backup
and restore and was looking for some tips to prevent mishaps. Any advice
provided would be greatly appreciated.
 
there are so many configurations
and asking us what is best for your
configuration is not worthwhile.

it seems to me that if there is
a practice of buying a multitude of
equipment, then your source provider
could give you that courtesy of helping
you to configure all that expensive
equipment you generously bought from them....

however, i suggest that you conduct
a test on 1 unit with data that
can be sacrificed and discover what
works best for you and the mulititude
of equipment.......

The equipment is already configured I just need to transfer any personal data
without affecting any of the settings of the new unit including the new
profile.
 
Copy all the personal data to a new folder on the new machine. named something
like "C:\SavedFromOldComputer\" . Then you can access it as needed.

Transfer everything in "C:\Documents and Settings\..." along with all theuser
data in the folders of programs you use.

The equipment is already configured I just need to transfer any personaldata
without affecting any of the settings of the new unit including the new
profile.
