Hi,
Want to create an emergency disk for XP Home Edit. The
instructions I have seen in this forum say click on the
Backup option and follow the instructions. In the relevant
drop down box on my system, the backup option I need to
use to create the disk does not appear. Any ideas on how
to rectify this?
Thanks for your help.

I had this situation last week. The backup was simply not
included in XP Home as it was shipped from my vender.
The actual program you need is supposed to be
NTBackup.exe, sits under Windows/System32 directory. You
should be able to add in from your system installation CD.
After adding it, you should be able to see Backup in your
menu.

Hope this helps...

Others have told you how to find NTBackup, but what do you
plan to do with it? NTBackup won't copy to a CD at all. There
is a way around that shortcoming by backing up to a file and
then burning the file onto a CD. However, if you are trying to
back up more than 1 CD's worth, NTBackup can't do it. If fact,
eventually, you will discover that Win XP Home Edition does
not support Automated System Recovery (ASR). So if you were
planning to back up the whole system, you have a lot of other
problems.

Time to call for help from the Microsoft MVP's and get
suggestions on third party programs that may be useful.

Whatever you do, don't get Backup My PC by Stomp because it is
worse than useless for a Win XP Home situation.

Other than that, good luck. Hope you find good answers.
