Hi,

I have a question in regards to backing up emails from outlook 03. I have
lots of folders sitting under my account in outlook. And it's getting a lot
slower when it comes to performing send/receive synchronizing. This account
is based on IMAP connection. So i would like to back some of the folders up
so that i could delete them from outlook to boost up loading processing time.

so i use the import/export under File to export the folders that i want to
delete from my outlook. However, i think i want something more. I would like
to be able to go back to the backup ones (that are saved in .pst format) and
be able to view them as i need to for my projects. What are the best ways to
doing this? i know that once i exported it and saved it as PST. I don't think
i can view it unless i imported them back to outlook. Honestly, I don't like
to do this.

Your helps would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Are you using the Archive feature within OL?
This will reduce the size of your data file, and the archive can remain
open, so the info is still available

Backing up is usually just a copy of the data, which can be done using the
free MS OL backup addin.
You dont want to Export or Import data, you create a new data file &
copy/move data to it

Rather than import/export, create a new PST on your local hard drive
(File>New>Outlook Data File) and then drag the IMAP folders you wish to
remove to the root of that new folder set. If that doesn't mark them as
deleted so you can purges them, then you can manually delete them after the
copy completes.
