I have somehow enabled a setting on Microsoft word 2002 which disables the use of backspace when you select text. But I don’t know how to make it go back. It’s quite hared to explain the problem and is easily described by an example:

Say you select a word which you want to delete you have various options of doing so, you can press the delete key (the most obvious), the backspace key or just type which replaces the selected word with whatever you type.

These last two for some reason do not work in word anymore and it is extraordinarily annoying especially when you for get and there ends up being loads of words you thought you deleted left I your document.

I would love to find out how to fix this problem as it has happened on three of my computers.
