Ok, I have two years with XP home. I have downloaded everything to bring me
up to date. What if my system crashes and I have to rebuild my system from
scratch. All of the updates that I have downloaded (dial-up ARGH) are gone.

Here is the Question: How do you backup all of the updates that I have
downloaded so that I can write to them to a CD/DVD and then to rebuild my
system and restore said updates so that I don't have to start from scratch?
Thanks

Rob

To set Windows Update for downloading the updates for later
installation instead of installing now:
Go to Windows Update
Click on Personalize Windows Update (left column)
Click "Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also
Click Save Settings button.

When you're ready to download:
Go to Windows Update
Click Windows Update Catalog (left column)
Click on Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems (or,
Find driver updates for hardware devices)
Select your OS & click the Search button
Select what you want; Critical or Recommended
Select the downloads you want and go to the download basket.

Or:

The Windows Security Update CD can be ordered from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/cd/order.asp

Good luck
