backing up onto disk

I have always backed up my Quickbooks onto floppy from my
Quickbook screen. I select backup and type A: into the
designated path. Why can't I do this with a disk instead
of having to go through the Easy CD Creator? Do I send it
to D: or E: ( I am using CD-R disk)
