I wish to click and drag files in Explorer (XP) to a CD. I have a 3Mg file
I back up daily. Floppy is too small, so I used CDR and burned it onto a
new disk via roxio ez cd creator. This was cumbersome and costly, since I
used only 3 of 700mg available then tossed it after 2 days. So, I bought
CDRW, thinking I could click and drag in Windows Explorer (to D drive), just
as I would to a floppy (A drive). This didn't work.
Someone told me there is either an option in Exlplorer (XP) that will allow
click and drop onto D drive (maybe only CDRW, which is fine). Is this the
case? How?
Thanks, Mike Allen

I don't know much about the CD-RW, I don't think I've ever used the feature on my drive.

However, you could run into a Staples or a computer store and pick up a USB flash drive.

If you don't have USB ports on the front of your desktop case or in an otherwise convenient location, buy a six foot USB extension cable. When you plug in the drive, Windows XP automatically detects it, assigns it a drive letter, and adds it to the Send To group.

NOw, to back up your file, all you do is right-click it and select Send To - Lexar Media (G:) or whatever the make and drive letter may be. YOu can also take it with you and plug it into ANY Windows 2000/XP computer and have instant read/write access to your file. It's just another option if you find you don't like the CD-RW route.

If you want to use a CD-RW as a 500 MB floppy drive, look at DirectCD (v. 5)
or Drag to Disk (ver. 6 and 7). It makes a "packet writing" CD.
