I am taking a class with HP, and my assignment is to back up my files, and
then reinstall them. I'm not having any luck. Your backup instructions say
to go to Start, then All Program, then Accessories, then System Backup. I do
not have System Backup, I have System Restore. How do I backup my files?

This Microsoft Knowledge Base article should help:

Your
backup instructions

"Your" backup instructions? If you think you're addressing
Microsoft here, let me explain that this is a newsgroup. It's
hosted by Microsoft, but it's not Microsoft. Everyone who posts
here is just a Windows XP user and a volunteer, helping each
other when we can. The same goes for those of us with the title
"Microsoft MVP." The "MVP" title doesn't mean that we are
Microsoft employees, just people who have been given the title
for regularly supplying accurate information here.

With regard to your question, presumably you have XP Home. Backup
is installed automatically on XP Professional, but not on XP
Home. If you have the complete XP Home CD, find backup on the CD,
in \ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself by
doubleclicking the file ntbackup.msi.

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at
