Backing up and restoring e-mails

Hey guys,
I have figuerd out how to compact and backup my e-mails,
but now I don't know how to restore them.
Can someone please help.

The reverse of backup? What OS and what version of Outlook? Are you on
Exchange server or stand alone?
 
If its a pst file and a personal folder to your current profile and point to
your archive pst.
