If some one can please give me some advice. My daughter was working on my
machine and some how has saved all the pictures from our picture files in to
the backgrounds. I want to remoe them as they dont belong there and only want
the original win xp background display. Can some one advise me how to remove
the family pictures. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If your root directory is the C: drive then the default desktop
background images are located in the folder

C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

if your family pictures are located in this folder remove them. It is
also possible that the images are being read directly from your "My
Pictures" folder. If this is the case I have had some success removing
them from the list of desktop images by setting the desktop background
to "none" click apply->ok and then when you go back to the list of
desktop images they should be removed.

hope this helps.

Are they actually being displayed on your desktop or are they jus
visable when your in your desktop properties. If they are on you
desktop as a background simply right click>properties>desktop and fo
the background select bliss

Lateral thinking dept: have the images been set as desktop items? IOW, are
they superimposed on the wallpaper, or are they replacing it?

If they are superimposed on the wallpaper, right-click the desktop, select
properties and then the desktop tab. Click "Customize Desktop" and then the
"Web" tab. You'll see a scroll-down box with all the picture files listed:
just uncheck them all. Or highlight them and click "Delete" if you wish;
you'll only delete them from the list, not from your HD.

If they are replacing the original wallpaper, then follow Red 5's and
rootj4m13's advice.
