Background/Transparency

I purchased the AdvancedList control from Resco and learnt that it doesn't support background images on the control nor does it support transparency. Is there any way I can extend thirdy party controls such as this one to add these functionalities

Only if the OEM marked methods as virtual or the class as not sealed.
