Background image will not display in left border

I have separate background images in my top and left
shared borders (both jpg files). The image in the top
border displays fine when I preview in browser (IE).
However, the left border will NOT display. In addition,
when I exit FP and reopen the web in FP, the left border
background image is not there and I have to reinsert it.

Any suggestions?

This does sound a little flakey, but basically it's
working as designed. FrontPage doesn't propagate page
properties from shared border files to pages that use
them; the shared border content is supposed to inherit the
page-level setting of each page.

Most likely, you should surround your shared border
content with a table, and then specify the picture you
want as a table background.

The background must be assigned as a cell background, since only the content
between the <body>..</body> tags is included in other pages.

If what you say is true, why does the background image
for the top border display correctly? I inserted both
background images for the borders using the 'Shared
Border Properties..' dialog and specified the appropriate
picture for each border. Why would it work for one and
not the other.

Can you provide a URL?

Are you publishing to a server that has the FP2002 extensions, which are
required for that feature to work?

Did you import both images into your current open FP web prior to using the
images in your web?

I have not yet published the site because I'm just
getting started. I was using the preview in browser
option to see what it would look like in IE. If the FP
2002/2003 extensions are installed on the server when I
publish the site, will the background images work then?

It should work once published to a server with the FP2002 extensions. There
are no FP2003 extensions.

Cant wait to hear the answer.
I have similar problems on the left boarders with my gif files. I have
rotating soccer balls that tend to disapear. They show up in preview and
they rotate but they tend to get corupted and not display in IE. Sometimes
I go thru the picture properties (which is already correct) and reselect the
graphics. This fixes it half the times but I don't know what casues it.
