Back up system restore files

Is there a way to do this with the backup program in xp in case the files get
corruped in the future?

Not really. System Restore is designed more for when you need to undo a
misstep very quickly. You would be better off getting an imaging
program like Acronis True Image or BootIT NG and making regular images
of your system along with your normal standard data backup routine.
