I have windows xp version 2002 and would like to back-up my files. When i go
to programs, accessories, system tools there is suppose to be an option for
back-up but it is not there. Windows help says that is where it is suppose
to be. Can you help and offer tips on how and what to back up on my computer.

are you using xp pro or xp home?, because the backup feature is only
avialible in winxp pro.

Is there a backup program available that works with the Home Edition?

I have home edition

You have to install it. Go to add/remove programs then select windows
components. Depending on your installation it may ask for a cd.

Sorry, this is *not* correct. It's available in both, but not automatically
installed in XP Home.

Backup is installed automatically on XP Professional, but not on XP Home. If
you have the complete XP Home CD, find backup on the CD, in
\ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install it yourself by doubleclicking the file
ntbackup.msi.

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at

Having the same problem, and after a little research, I purchased Acronis
True Image 10. After configuring the program for a target drive, I made a
backup and check for errors in short order.
