Awkward MS update

Did anyone have a problem getting one of the Windows updates from
Microsoft? The download button was missing from the page for the
jscript patch and the download buttons in the table did not do anything
when clicked. I had to get the patch by reading the page source code,
finding the right URL from there, translating hex ASCII codes into ASCII
characters, and finally pasting the resulting URL into a download
accelerator. All the other patch downloads were fine.

Had you already installed MS06-021 Cumulative Security Update for
Internet Explorer (916281)? Were you using IE to do the download of
MS06-023 Vulnerability in Microsoft JScript Could Allow Remote Code
Execution (917344)?

MS warned that there may be application compatibility issues if MS06-021
was installed without MS06-023.

But yes, MS could have done a much better job simplifying this update
for users.

Hi Kurt
Don't tell me that the next batch of updates are causing problems already -
this is all getting too predictable.

No, I had not done that. I use Firefox to download the patches manually
and then install them all later. I start at the Security Bulletin
Search page and follow the links.

I read that.

It certainly could!
