i've had the new AVG free edition for nearly 2 months now and just recently
it started crashiing PC during the scan. I realized after a few days of
noticing that the PC was restarted in the morning. So I ran a manual scan and
it crashed on me.
Error code from MS shows the following:
BCCode : f4 BCP1 : 00000003 BCP2 : 82EAF5D0 BCP3 : 82EAF744
BCP4 : 805FA7A8 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1

Any MVPs decode this?

AVG 7 Free? Have you checked for and installed updates repeatedly until
you've gotten the 'No additional updates available' prompt? There were
several large program updates released earlier this week and "automatic
update" function hasn't pulled 'em all in for all users. Otherwise...

A BugCheck or STOP code of F4 (0x000000F4) is a
CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION error.

If the AVG updates do not correct the problem then it may be that
there is a virus that AVG is detecting and trying to remove and in the
process of doing so a critical Windows component is being stopped.

If the problem persists then get a "second opinion" regarding a
possible virus by doing a free online virus scan at one of the
following sites:

Good luck
