AVG automatically starts computer

I am a new XP Home user and am continuing with AVG Anti Virus Freee Edition
because I have found it great on my old ME system. However, at midnight every
night, the PC automatically turns on and begins to download the latest AVG
file. I have looked everywhere and tried everything I know to stop this but
to no avail. Hence this post. Can anyone suggest how to stop my PC turning on
automatically?

I don't think AVG can turn on your computer. That might be a wake on command
in the bios that does that. However you should be able to open the AVG
scheduler and change what time it does updates.
