in word 2000 i want use autotext to insert the file location in teh footer of
a document. This is empty. How do I get the standard ones back

This occurs when you save a document as normal.dot. Rename normal.dot to
oldnormal.dot and restart Word

Chances are good that your problem is the result of replacing your
normal.dot file with another file. Try renaming it normalold.dot (with Word
closed) and see if this helps. See
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm for more info.
