Autotext crashes Word

I have an issue where typing and pressing RETURN to insert AUTOTEXT causes
WORD to crash. The problem is not consistent. If you simply use the menus to
insert the autotext desired it works every time. This defeats the use of
autotext. Other stations on the LAN seem OK.

We are using Win-XPPro & XPSP2 and Office XP with OffXP & Office Updates to
Oct 20/2004.

How about: type the name (the name under which the entry is stored) then presing
F3? Does that work without crashing Word?

right off-hand, possible causes that occur to me are: a problem with the
graphics card driver. A corrupted Normal.dot template. does the problem also
occur when Word is started in Safe Mode? How about when Windows is started in
Safe Mode?
