Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]

Hi - am trying to help out a client with an autoreply need on Exchange 2k
with OL2002....it needs to be a server side rule, and I've followed the
steps in
http://office.microsoft.com/assista...ID=HA010347871033&CTT=6&Origin=EC010553071033
(Have Microsoft Exchange Server Send Custom Reply Messages with Outlook
2002) and set up an .oft file - rule setup is fine.

I set up the rule - it doesn't work. Nothing happens, even if I have OL open
& look to see if I get an error message. If I try to run the rule manually
against the existing inbox items, I get a "rules in error" message - this
action is not available in the current mode" which I presume just means you
can't run that kind of rule manually.

Then I see that in KB 292906 I see "Microsoft has confirmed that this is a
problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this
article. " and no suggestions/hotfixes.

The client would be happy with a mail-enabled public folder for this, but
has tried & can't get it to fire for inbound mail from the Internet...I
don't know whether they've applied the fix to change inbound smtp mail

Where all tests from an external (internet) account to internal mailbox? If
yes, I might suspect that auto replies to the internet are disabled under
e2k.

;-) Yoicks - I meant to put this in my drafts folder as I never completed it
(note how it trails off at the end....) - and the client is testing some
stuff right now (autoreply to the internet is enabled AFAIK) - let's just
pretend this post never happened & I'll try again when I have more info from
them!
