Autoplay is a great way to install a virus, don't you think? You can't scana
CD for viruses till you put it in the drive, and as soon as you put it in the
drive ... it autoplays.

Hold down the left "shift" key as you close the CD tray, and for a few
seconds afterward. No auto-start.

Any decent anti virus program will check for a virus when you open a file.

So you would not be able to get a virus this way.

I agree & so did IBM tech.

If u dbl clk drive letter. autorun starts. Not a big deal.

Just my 2¢ worth. Larry

Any advise given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS (Normally, Usually, Generally, Sometimes :)

I don't believe one in a hundred Windows users knows that trick. And fewer
still give it any thought when they put in a CD. My daughter picked up some
spyware that I believe came from a CD. And in XP Home, to disarm the
autoplay boobytrap, you have to edit the Registry. It's diabolical.

Plato, I am honored that you would take the time to respond to my comment.
I was hoping you'd respond to my other question about computers disappearing
from my workgroup list. No luck.

But if you would be so kind as to expound on this "No" just a little bit, I
would be so grateful. No ... what?
