I have two questions that I hope someone can point me in the right
direction. A little bit of background...working with an Access .adp
file connecting to a SQL Server backend. Let me know if you need more
information than that.
The first question...is it possible to have an alphanumeric
autonumbering sequence in this type of setup? And if so, how difficult
and where does it need to be setup at (Access side or SQL Server side)?
The only information I've been able to find so far is that SQL Server
can only be setup for autonumbering on numeric values.
The second question...what's the easiest way to validate user input as
they are entering it? I've tried to use the Validation Rule and
Validation Text fields, but I obviously do not understand how they were
designed to work because it appears that nothing is being validated
when I have them set. I don't have very complex validation
requirements...mostly just a MsgBox to prompt them if they leave a
field blank.
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thank you in advance for your time and attention.
