I have a form that has an autonew macro to add a sequential number to an
engineering document. I need to protect it so the form can be filled out,
checkboxes, etc. However the autonew macro does not work because it is part
of the protected document.

How can I have the sequential numbering work with the protect form.

Unprotect your template. Have your AutoNew macro protect the template at the
end of the procedure. What you are talking about is what Word calls an
"online form." Check this in help. For more about online forms, follow the
links at http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or

Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at

Hope this helps,
