After reading another post I tried the Backup utility of Windows XP Home
edition. In the course of that I was testing the ASR function and got this
message:
"files for recovery could not be created, Operation failed and was aborted".
I like the advice but can't find out where to correct the problem. I tried
the online help and got nothing related to this issue. Does someone know
what the problem is? and how to correct?

Hi

ASR doesn't work with XP Home, only with XP Pro. If you have a look at the
'readme.txt' file that is in the same folder as the backup program on the XP
Home CD - it states there that ASR is not supported in XP Home.

Thank you. Will
there seems to be many "features" included in this version of XP that are
not "real". I purchased this machine recently migrating from Win98 Se (much
more stable OS). Why do they include these features if they are not
available ? I get an awful lot of windows that want to report a "problem"
to Microsoft and then boots me out of wherever I am? what does MS do with
these reports and how can one minimize the errors encountered. I am not a
novice to computers but am pulling my hair out with this OS.

Thanks again
