Automating Powerpoint slide creation??

Dear all

I am looking into how difficult it would be to automate the generation of Powerpoint slides for monthly reporting cycles (presented in PowerPoint)
Is it feasible to extract required data from a database, and automate the creation & population of a Powerpoint file from an agreed template

Has anybody tried this before? What are the hurdles

Excuse me if this seems a silly question, but this would be a major benefit for us..
We have people with years of SQL & VB/VBA experience to be able to do it if it is possible..

Thanks for that.
It is interesting and I'll take a further look, but I was actually wonderig about doing it in-house. We also have restrictions about what we put on client machines, which would count against that particular product
