Automatic updates

I have my PC set to automatically advise when MS updates (Windows XP) are
available. It does this fine.

My question is: Is there anyway of removing those updates that I don't want
to down load so they don't appear on the list again. It seems that I get a
list of available updates to select from, select those I believe I want and
update my machine with them.

The problem is, those I don't want, remain on the list and I then
continuously get the irritating messages that there are new downloads which
are in fact only those I haven't chosen to update. Maybe the answer is to
disable the reminder service which I am reluctant to do, as I then foget all
about checking.

Thanks

Do you have Automatic Updates configured to automatically download updates
but let you choose which ones and when to install?

If you choose not to install an update, do you get a "Don't remind me about
this update again" prompt before installing the other ones?

How to configure and use Automatic Updates in Windows XP:

My PC is set to "notify me but don't automatically download or install". I
don't want to use the "download updates but let me choose when to install" as
I have limited download facilities and some of the files are relatively big.

I guess the best is to just "turn off automatic updates"

I don't recall seeing these options, but I'll look in the morning when I
boot-up and Windows Update wants me to install the same update for the
24th time in a row. ;-)
