Automatic updates

I work at a university where we have just installed 32 new
computers in the multimedia and technology classrooms. All
are running XP Pro. As you can imagine, it would be
difficult to keep all of them updated manually, so we
decided to let the computers update automatically. However,
this has created a problem. The instructors are not pleased
when a dialog box appears during the middle of their
presentation asking them to restart the computer.

Does anyone know of a way to force XP to download and
install updates without any dialog boxes at all? We would
like it to be completely transparent to the user and for
everything to happen in the background rather than the user
being prompted to restart the computer.

I am sorry Jr. I know that my answer is irrelevant but i do actualy have the
same setup as you do but my problem is that the users get the message that
they dont have enough privilege to install windows updates. what domain are
you running NT4 or 2000? and what kind of permission the users have? and are
you using local Policy or Active Directory policy?

Thank you in advance.

Updates to the operating system normally require a reboot
to include the changes in memory. Don't know a way around
it.

Have you tried setting them up to install updates automatically at 3am or
some other time when they would not be in use?
