Automatic Updates - forced reboot - can't delay!

At our organization we have configured Automatic Updates to download all
updates and install them at 3am. However, since many users (particularly
those with laptops) turn their computers off at night, when they start
working the next day they get the message that an update is about to be
installed, and then their computer wants to reboot. The dialogue box that
appears has a button to postpone the reboot, but it is greyed out. The
computer proceeds with the reboot, and the user loses their work in
progress.

How can we change this so that a regular user can choose to delay the reboot
when this message appears.

Thanks,

Lee M.

the computer has to be restarted so that the updates can take affect
so that they can finish installing them.

Thanks, Ricky, I understand *why* the reboot is needed. And Mow Green, you
haven't met my users!!

What I am really asking for is a registry hack or permissions setting that
would enable the "Postpone" button on the reboot dialogue box. It is
enabled for administrators, but disabled for regular users. If they could
postpone the reboot to a more appropriate time, all would be well.

I had the same problem. Download the new version of Software Update Services
(1.1 i think) this has an associated .adm file.

You can import this .adm file into Administrative Templates in Active
Directory. This adds extra options in the SUS folder which allows you to
force updates, but not to automatically reboot the client.
