Automatic Update and SP2

Hi
I use "Automatic Update" and I like it very much.
However, I do not want to be one of the first to get SP2. I would
like to wait a week or two after the public release, until 1) the
problems that I am likely to encounter have solutions that I am
comfortable implementing, and 2) I have time in my schedule to deal
with any problems that I do encounter.
So here is my question: Do I need to turn off "Automatic Update" so
that I can get SP2 on *my* schedule rather than on someone else's
schedule?

It all depends on how you're set up. If you're set up to download, but not install then you can always tell it no. Otherwise, turn off automatic downloads until you're ready to install SP2.

Yes, if you want to wait a bit to install sp2, then turn it off. If you
leave it on it will download sp2 and some point.

Howdy,
Hope you can see my answer to Darrell.

Recheck your settings for Automatic Updates. You may turn it off, or select the one of the others to "notify you".

And only if you have high-speed internet, get the full (network install) version of SP2, which you can later on, apply at your schedule.
Or you can order for free, the SP2 CD.

The issue with turning off A U (unless you do make regular visits to Windows Updates is that your system begins to get behind on security & critical updates.

SP2 will not automatically install. You have to accept the EULA first. If
you do not want it, just do not accept the EULA
I believe it wil lautomatically download it though.

I changed my to "Automatic Update" and now I just got
something downloaded in my system which I don't believe I
need since I am under "Dial-Up". Microsoft downloaded
Advanced Networking Pack for Windows XP. Now I am having
problems with Earthlink under Connections with Proxy
Server because it is not supposed to be checked off. I
am changing the system back to the way it was where
Windows will notify of updates and do it manually. It is
not hard to download a file.
I hope that helps.

I would suggest change the settings to 'warn me of updates' instead of
'automatically update'. And be very hesitant about it on a dial up
anyway - the download will be around 100MB, and you are probably better
to wait for availability on CD
