Automatic System Restart after logging into user account ?!?

Not sure if this is just related to the fact that today is Monday, but here
goes...

When I startup my machine, everything seems to load as normal, but as soon
as I login the computer immediately shuts down and then restarts. Thought it
may be virus related but I have scanned my system with no apparent problems
found.

Has anyone had any experience with this type of problem, or point me in the
right direction for a solution ?

Any help/comments would be appreciated. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better
day :)!

Sounds like you have the Blaster Worm virus. You will have to ask a friend to
download a patch for you and save to floppy disc. I had same problem
beginning of the year and was unable to stay logged on any longer than 40
seconds before it restarted. This should solve it! Best of luck

Thanks for the help Jiveaway. I was able to get back on my system in safe
mode and check in task manager for the Msblast.exe process that the Blaster
Worm installs but had no luck. I have also updated my antivirus (again) and
scanned the machine with no other viruses found. I figured while I was there
I would download and run adaware - it found a pile of crap infected and
cleaned it out. The system seems to boot normally again (a biter faster now
actually). Still not convinced I did anything to help the original problem
but at least I now have use of my PC again. Guess I'll keep crawling through
threads hoping to find another reference to the problem..

Monday's almost over :) !!
