automatic name checking

Outlook stopped automatically checking names, even though automatic name
checking is selected in Advanced email options. It does check the name once
I hit the send button, but I want it to check before that. I have three
address lists that it checks from: a contact folder in Public
Folders\Favorites, Global Address List, and Contacts.

Name checking should occur when you tab out of the field. You can also
force a name check with CTRL-K or the "Check Names" item under Tools.
 
Name checking doesn't occur when I tab out of the To: field, no matter how
long I wait. It used to; and I don't know if anything I did triggered the
change. Would it have anything to do with the fact that a contact folder in
public folders\favorites is the first address list that Outlook uses to check
names?
