My messages are disappearing from my message folders in
Outlook Express. One minute a folder is full of messages,
and I go back later only to find it completely empty, and
no sign of the messages anywhere (even in the deleted
items folder). I don't have any of the automatic deletion
features enabled, and the missing messages are still on my
server. I have run my virus-checker and don't appear to
have a virus. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with
my Outlook Express?

Thank you.

Hi Jenn,

This issue can occur if Outlook Express is configured to display unread messages only. Because of this, messages that have been read are not displayed in the Inbox or your other Outlook
Express folders. The following Knowledge Base (KB) article addresses this issue.

OLEXP: Missing E-Mail Messages in Outlook Express

I am experiencing these symptoms, except that it is not
just the read messages that disappear, but all messages in
the folder, and they tend to be fine for a while, and then
all disappear from one folder every week or so. (But not
all folders at the same time). I checked and the view I
have selected is "Show all messages". Is there another
possible cause or solution for this problem?

Thank you.
Jenn
