Rather than use Insert>Date, select Field from the Insert menu and insert
the appropriate one of the following
Date - this will update to the current date whenever the fields in the
document are updated (same as using Insert>Date with automatic update.)
SaveDate - this will display the date on which the document was last saved
whenever ...
PrintDate - this will display the date on which the document is printed
CreateDate - used in a template, this will display the date on which a
document was created from the template.
The dates will be updated when a document is printed if that option is set
under Tools>Options>Print.
You can also force them to be updated by selecting the field ( or all of the
text in the document ) and then press F9 (which maybe all that you need to
do to get the date field that you already have in the document to be
updated.
