Autofit row doesn’t always work

Hi, I have a question about the autofit row feature. It seems like sometimes
it works, sometimes it doesn’t, especially when there is a lot of text in the
rows in question. Sometimes text gets cut off at the bottom of a cell.
Other times it leaves too much space at the bottom of the row. Other times
it fits just right. I've just always manually adjusted the rows that needed
adjusting. But lately my department has been getting a lot of questions on
how to get autofit to work correctly. The answer that it doesn’t always work
perfectly sometimes doesn’t sit very well with the caller. It’s one thing to
go through and manually adjust the row heights in a spreadsheet with 40 or 50
rows. It’s quite another if the spreadsheet has thousands of rows, so,
needless to say, some of them are not very happy.

In any case, I guess my question is this: what is the best way to try to
make sure the autofit feature does work correctly? Is there a particular
zoom, view, etc. that should be used that would yield the best results? Or
is there a macro that might work? I know that merged cells can cause
problems with autofit and that Excel has a limit to how many characters a
cell will hold, display, and print, but most of the time the spreadsheets we
deal with don't have these problems.

Any help or suggestions anyone can offer would be most appreciated.

Hi FJ,

You can use following keys in the order I have given below:-
Ctrl + A, Alt + O + C+ A
Ctrl + A, Alt + O + R+ A
Ctrl + A, Alt + O + C+ A
Ctrl + A, Alt + O + R+ A

Alternatively, you can get them transferred to VBA code, as well. Thanks.

Hi, Dilip, thanks for your response. I will experiment with the suggested
keystrokes and see how they go.
