AutoFiltered List

Quick question for anyone who may know. I have several
workbooks all with different lists. When i Autofilter
them everything seems to work fine, however near the lower
left of the screen on the status bar, it says
either "Ready" when the autofilter is on, then when i
apply a filter is returns "X of Y records found" - which
is exactly what i need.

My problem is that on a few books, as soon as i place a
filter the "X of Y records found" does not display it
quickly blinks on and then returns back to ready so i
cannot see how many records there were. Has anyone else
experienced this problem and if so what is going wrong,
why is it doing this?

I am aware that i could use a subtotal at the bottom to
find my results but this is not possible for me as i have
to relay this on. So i need it to be displayed at status
bar.

Any help is gratefully appreciated.

Many Thanks

Phill

When your list has many formulas, the Status Bar may show "Filter Mode"
instead of a count of the visible records. There are articles in the
Microsoft KnowledgeBase that explain:

XL2000: Excel AutoFilter Status Bar Message Shows "Filter Mode"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=213886

XL: AutoFilter Status Bar Message Shows "Filter Mode"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=189479

Instead of subtotal, you could use the AutoCalc feature, which is
workaround #2 shown here:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH THIS SOLVED IT :)
